The person of St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) is prominent in the history of Christian spirituality. He captured the hearts and imaginations of men and women of all nationalities and creeds through the centuries. He shared a vision of faith in the most high, all-powerful Lord Whose generosity and love could be seen in every aspect of his life. Due to that faith, he responded to the promptings of the Holy Spirit by embracing a life of ever-deepening poverty nd humility. And as a result, he became effective instrument of the Holy Spirit in promoting the kingdom of peace that Christ had come to establish.
