8 Day Ignatian Silent Retreat
An Ignatian Apporach to the Vows
Fr. C. Hightower, S.J.
A vow is a binding promise made to God, or in the case of marriage, to another person, and is also an act of religion. St. Ignatius gave advice in his Spiritual Exercises that needs an extended environment of immersion in peace and deep prayer to comprehend. Vows paid to God and other human beings require meditation and comtemplation in order to do justice to them in a world where it is difficult to live them.
Fr. C. Hightower, S.J. graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Criminal Justice in 1992. He also holds Masters degrees from Gonzaga University (1999) and Weston (Boston College, 2004). He entered the Society of Jesus in 1994, and was ordained in 2004. He was Director of the University Ministry team and Chaplain in the Athletic Department at Gonzaga University. He joined the Sacramento Jesuit Community as the religious Superior in the Fall of 2013 and continues to serve on various educational, Province, and Diocesan boards.
