Bishop William Skylstad Born in 1934, Bishop William Skylstad was ordained a priest of Spokane on May 21, 1960. He was educated for the priesthood at the Pontifical College Josephinum, and later attended Washington State University. Ordained Bishop of Yakima in 1977, he was later appointed Bishop of Spokane in 1990. In 2011 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Baker. He served a term as Vice President and then as President of the USCCB, and presently works with World-Wide Marriage Encounter and travels nationally and internationally in other ministries in the Church. He has recently been appointed Ecumenical Officer of the Spokane Diocese by Bishop Thomas Daly.
