Free Week-long Work Retreat Contemplation in Action "Come and Listen to God" Fr. Armand Nigro, SJ
Share with others in a prayerful atmosphere the joy of working together each morning. Participants will be expected to participate in helping IHRC complete much needed repairs, yard work, painting, cleaning etc. Some of these activities are strenuous and may require strength and lifting. In exchange for this sweat equity; participants will participate in spiritual conferences, Mass, prayer, opportunities for confession and spiritual direction, and of course lodging and delicious meals.
So often when we pray we feel the need to speak to Him and tell Him everything. Though it is important to share with God, we often forget that simply to be and to listen quietly is to pray! Father Nigro will propose sections of the Old & New Testaments to encourage participants to leave space for contemplation in their busy lives.
Father Nigro, SJ, a priest for over 55 years, was born and raised in Spokane, became a Jesuit and was ordained by Bishop Topel in 1956. He was educated in Rome, received his doctorate at the Gregorian University there in 1963, and taught at Seattle University and then Gonzaga University for 40 years. A missionary in Africa for five years and in Alaska for the same, he has served in spiritual ministry since 1957, giving retreats and working with the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.
