Rev. Daniel A. Nevares, SJ, is a graduate of St. Jerome Catholic School (Houston, TX), Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and Texas A&M University. This generous gift of education propelled Dan to address systemic educational inequity by joining the Teach for America (TFA) corps after college, teaching upper elementary school within greater Phoenix. After entering the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), Dan served apostolically in Los Angeles, Seattle, Phoenix and Pine Ridge, South Dakota. During his philosophy studies at Saint Louis University, his passion for education led him to serve at Marian Middle School, an all-girls Nativity model school in St. Louis, MO. He also taught at Gonzaga Preparatory School, Spokane, as part of his Jesuit formation. Dan also values the ministry of accompaniment with young people along their journeys of faith, having renewed the young adult community at St. Agnes Parish in San Francisco during the pandemic while studying theology at Santa Clara University’s Jesuit School of Theology. Ordained in June 2022, he currently serves as the associate pastor at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish and School in addition to a regional vocation promoter for the USA West Province of the Society of Jesus.
