Participation in the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ
Bishop Michael Warfel
The Holy Triduum is at the heart of the liturgical year. During these three days of Holy Week, Christians celebrate the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ. The Season of Lent is a period of time to prepare for the three days in which the people of God commemorate the Paschal Mystery, the core of Christian faith. It is why Christians will sing their Alleluia’s. Through His Passion and Death, the Lord faced humanity’s greatest enemy – sin and death - and overcame sin and death once and for all. Those who are immersed into the waters of rebirth, anointed with the Holy Spirit and invited to participate in the Eucharist, share in the promise of His life without end. Christ, who once was dead, has now risen from death, never to die again. Those who are in Christ affirm their conviction that they will share His life forever. This brief retreat during Holy Week will walk all those who attend through the celebration of the liturgies of the Holy Triduum, the mother of all Christian feasts.
