About Taizé
Taizé is a small ecumenical community in the eastern
part of France near the Swiss border. It was founded
by a Swiss, Brother Roger, who Formed the community
in 1940 during WWII. His purpose was to create a
community based upon the love of Christ, simple in
nature, and welcoming to all. Each year, young and
older people from throughout the world flock to Taizé
by the thousands. Today, there are approximately 150
Brothers in the community. The Brothers of Taizé come
from all Christian denominations. The current successor
to Brother Roger is Brother Alois. For questions, contact
