Carlos Sevilla was born in San Francisco, California, entered the Society of Jesus in 1953, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1966. He obtained his Master’s degree in Philosophy at Gonzaga University, and his Master’s in Theology in Santa Clara later furthering his studies in Innsbruck and Paris. He was names sixth Bishop of Yakima, Washington in 1996 and is the second religious and the first Jesuit to hold that office.
